Alternative firmware x1plus
On January 10, Bambu Lab unveiled a blog article dealing with the installation of a personalized firmware on the 3D Bambu Lab X1 printer.
This follows the emergence of X1Plus firmware as an open source alternative on YouTube channels, created by X1 users.
The Bambu Lab’s blog shares important news for those interested in the use of X1Plus and similar projects in the future.
What can this firmware do?
Bambu Lab has decided to authorize X1 users to install this firmware, subject to the signing of a waiver renouncing the warranty and the assistance of the printer.
Once this step has been taken and the X1 printer identified by Bambu Lab, a special firmware update (“Firmware R”) will be available.

This approach recalls other similar situations, such as that of Prusa in 2019 requiring users to withdraw a physical “appendix” to install an unconted firmware, with waiver of the guarantee.
